Before I went to law school and realized I was born to do appeals, I worked as a newspaper reporter, an organizer for a statewide pro-choice group, and a Senate campaign staffer for the last guy who ran against Jesse Helms. I graduated law school with highest honors and clerked for a Tenth Circuit judge.

I started my practice in 2009. Before that I was an assistant federal defender handling capital habeas corpus cases and an adjunct law professor.
